With more than 3,600 nominations already received, the Leadership Louisville Center is making one more call for Louisville-area residents to submit names of “connectors” who bring people together to improve the community.

The deadline for submitting nominees is Saturday for the center’s Louisville Connector Project, which seeks to honor unsung leaders with a gift for building networks.

The center is hoping to exceed the total of 4,300 nominations set by its counterpart in Philadelphia, the first city to do such a project. The center expects to release a list of finalists in early 2010.

The center is conducting the project to mark its 30th anniversary of training and recognizing local leaders.

“The response to the Connector Project has been overwhelming,” Leadership Louisville Center president Christine Johnson said in a written statement. “Our community is in the midst of a dialogue about new leadership and this project has brought civic engagement and citizen leadership to the forefront of the conversation.”

People may submit nominations at www.LouisvilleConnectors.com.
