CLEARWATER, FL — 10/20/09 — Digital Lightwave®, Inc. (OTCBB: DIGL), a leading provider of optical networking test equipment and technology, today announced the USB FibreVu(TM) Probe, a digital video inspection probe for fiber optic connector end faces, and detection/analysis of connector defects.

With the USB FibreVu Probe, the user can see the fiber end face magnified on a PC screen or on a Digital Lightwave NIC’s color touchscreen with up to 1500x magnification. Adapter tips are available to support all common connectors used in telecommunications, including LC, SC, ST, FC, MU and more, in both male and female versions to enable testing of both patch cords and bulkhead connections.

“Most field test failures can be attributed to dirty connectors,” said Doyle Mills, Director of Product Marketing for Digital Lightwave. “Just a single particle in a fiber connection can cause significant insertion loss and back reflection, sometimes even permanent damage. Visual fiber inspection is the only way to determine if connectors are truly clean before they are mated. Our USB FibreVu Probe provides technicians with fast and reliable, proactive detection of connector defects, saving money and time by reducing downtime, speeding deployment and protecting network components from damage.”

See the USB FibreVu Probe, along with the complete line of Digital Lightwave network test equipment and technology, at Supercomm 2009 in Chicago, Oct. 21-23.
