Downed power line blacks out Canadiens practice in Brossard

MONTREAL – The Canadiens cancelled their morning practice Friday in Brossard after a major power outage affected the complex and much of the surrounding area.
About three players made it onto the ice five minutes before the scheduled 11 a.m. practice when the lights went out.
As a result, all on-ice workouts have been cancelled. The players are able to work out in the gym because it is flooded with natural lights thanks to a wall of large windows. After their workouts in the gym, they will take the rest of the day off.
Head coach Jacques Martin said he would meet the media despite the power failure.
Hydro-Québec said a downed power line near Rome Blvd. and Niagara Ave. caused the power outage.
Repair crews replaced the line and restored power by about 1 p.m., the power utility said.
