TUCKER, Ga., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — SED International Holdings, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SECX), a multinational supply chain management provider and distributor of leading computer technology, wireless communications and consumer electronics, today announced the formation of a new business unit focused on the distribution of high quality Small Appliances and Kitchen Electrics.
More specifically, SED will expand its linecard to include small appliances that address personal care, home environment, kitchen/cooking, food preparation, coffee/espresso and garment care.  In this regard, SED has signed an agreement with Panasonic Appliance Group to distribute the Company’s counter-top microwaves, over-the-range microwaves, irons, bread makers, rice cookers and counter-top meat grinders.  In addition to Panasonic, SED is in discussion with a number of other leading manufacturers in anticipation of rapidly expanding its new small appliance offerings.
According to the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, consumers want appliances that are time savers, are convenient to use, provide easy clean-up, are stylish, have multiple applications, promote healthy cooking and maintain a healthy environment in the home.  High on trend lists are bread makers, rice cookers, sandwich makers, coffee grinders/mills and espresso/cappuccino makers.
Sandy Hanberry, Purchasing Manager, Small Appliances at SED, noted, “With our first shipments expected to commence on September 1, our sales and marketing teams are busy educating both current and prospective new customers on the many special discount programs, purchasing incentives and flexible financing plans that we’ve created to help ensure a strong and successful launch.”
Tom Roper, Vice President, CE & Small Appliance Purchasing at SED, added, “Empowering independent dealers, resellers, buying groups and e-commerce companies with strategies to build and enhance their individual businesses has helped to win SED industry distinction among the hundreds of vendors we represent, and longstanding loyalty from the large and growing customer base we serve.  With the addition of small appliances and kitchen electrics, we are creating yet another important growth opportunity for our customers to expand their offerings to better meet their respective customers’ needs and demands.  Moreover, our new business unit will allow SED to reach and support an ever larger universe of dealers and resellers.  This is an exciting, evolutionary step for SED and one that we expect will contribute measurably to our Company’s long term success.”
