Test Research Inc. Highlights Bare Board Test System at TPCA 2009

Test Research Inc. (TRI, TAIEX 3030) announced that the new TR9000 PCB AOI test system and repair station will be featured at the TPCA show to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from Oct. 21-23, 2009. TRI will also display a range of feature-rich test systems for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) at TRI’s booth J116.

The TR9000 is an AOI (Automated
Optical Inspection) system designed for high-volume manufacturers of mainstream PCBs. Designed entirely in-house, the TR9000 implements TRI’s existing AOI expertise to inspect PCBs down to 35?ݭ (microns). Red and blue LEDs are used as a light source to ensure high defect detection rates with low false calls. Panels up to 675mm x 730mm (27in x 29in) can be accommodated by the system.

“The Taipei Printed Circuit Association show is the ideal venue to show off our new bare-board test system,” said Jim Lin, TRI’s Vice President for Global Sales and Marketing. “With this system, TRI now provides true end-to-end test solutions for anyone involved in electronics manufacturing. Our test system expertise now extends from bare-board all the way to in-circuit testing of completed PCBAs.”

Also being shown at TRI’s booth will be two AOI systems, the desktop TR7530DT and the best-selling TR7500. Featuring a high-end digital 3 CCD full-color camera for clear capture of board images, the TR7530DT is also equipped with an ultra-low angle, coaxial RGB LED lighting system for efficient off-line defect detection. The TR7500 is a high-speed inline system that combines a top-view digital 3CCD full-color camera plus 4 angle cameras to provide the most complete AOI coverage in its class.

TRI’s SPI (solder-paste inspection) expertise will be on display in the TR7066. This 64-bit, ultra-high-speed 3D SPI system uses a linear motor and linear scale to create a more precise and stable X-Y motion system. A high-resolution 2D color camera is also included.

The TR5001E in-circuit test system rounds out the TRI booth. The TR5001E is a cost-effective MDA with full upgrade options for on-board programming and IEEE 1149.6 Boundary-Scan.
