Jack Roush’s cows graze under buzzing, crackling, 765-kilovolt power lines, and neither he nor the cows mind the arrangement.
Roush, 72, said the American Electric Power lines were running across the land when he started working at mother and daughter Lou and Ruth Pine’s dairy in 1971. He inherited the land from the Pines in 1991 and now raises 11 cows on 70 acres of grazing land.
The four acres under the lines have been cleared of all vegetation except for the grass Roush’s cows dine on.
“This is all for my benefit,” …

Power lines don’t scare me, but people who say they should are pretty scary.
I think they are raising unjustified fears, triggering undue stress and causing the spending of public funds that could be much more usefully allocated.
I have no expertise in electricity, but I have a good handle who does and on appraising the scientific literature. I’m also well aware that views expressed on the effects of power lines, on both sides of the debate, may be motivated by factors other than the pursuit of pure science.
The current controversy, so …

But small appliances are very important because they provide the finishing touch to your kitchen and the things that probably use more. And not all small kitchen appliances are the same. With the birth of such intelligent technology in the last …
